Sora 2 is an AI-driven video and audio production tool launched by OpenAI. Users need only enter a hint, and AI will automatically generate the video according to the description. When the application went online, there was a large number of IP players under the banner of heaven, as if they were actively inviting “the strongest law ministry in the northern hemisphere”.

According to The New York Times, OpenAI has actively contacted many mainstream copyrighters and Hollywood stars to discuss the option of “retroactive removal” of their content from Sora 2. It is not clear whether OpenAI has also tried to contact Nintendo, but the re-emergence of the Quantico Dream and Mario-style Sora 2 content on the platform strongly suggests that Nintendo ‘ s IP is being used extensively in the training data of the AI model. The IP under Nintendo is not the only case for Sora 2 training. Other well-known IP elements, such as Tony Hawke’s Career Slideboard and Transmitting Gate, were also featured in the video generated by AI.

Just a year ago, Nintendo took legal action against AI for the creation of a Mario image. Nintendo, the strongest law department with the name Disneyzi, is well known and seems unlikely to stand idly by in the face of Sora 2. Earlier this year, it was reported that Disney was negotiating with OpenAI and had indicted Midjourney, the original AI company, for misappropriation of its films and images. In addition, George R. R. Martin, author of the Sing of Ice and Fire, and several other writers have previously filed a lawsuit against OpenAI. Although a growing number of Japanese players are beginning to embrace AI technology in game production, OpenAI, Midjourney and other AI-related start-ups have not partnered with affected copyrighters.

Nintendo has always been cautious about AI, and Miyamoto has stated that the company will not rush into the AI field like other developers. The outgoing President of the United States of America, Doug Bauzer, also stated that he believed that AI would play a role in the creation of the game, but stressed the importance of maintaining a “human face” in the development of the game.
