The open-test version of Field 6 (Battlefield 6) has been online for less than 24 hours on the mainframe and the PC platform, and a large number of off-site video sets are already available online. This triggered intense discussions online, and many PC players were forced to use the “safe start” technology, but the players were dissatisfied with EA, which required risk-taking changes to the BIOS’ anti-fraud measures, because the founders had already been flying in Land Cover 6, and the fraud-prevention system was clearly “preventing loneliness”.
Despite the significant resources invested by EA to prevent gamers from cheating, on the first day of the public survey, there was a mature vision and hackers easily bypassed protection. “We were forced to play with computers like circus animals, and the cheaters did whatever they wanted on the battlefield!” A Reddit player was angry. Even worse, with cross-platform online, these PC hangers have been able to kill host players.
Another video of suspected field 6 cheaters has been viewed almost seven million times on X. The explosion of the video, as well as the massive repercussions that it generated, drew the attention of the producer of the field series Alexia Christofi, who responded and explained that the team was aware of the problem of cheating and believed that the players in the video had been banned. So far, cheating has appeared only on the PC platform, but due to the existence of cross-platform on-line (crosplay), these cheaters can fight Xbox and PS5 users.
Multiple-shooting games have long been a high-risk area, and it is impossible to put an end to cheating altogether. But many online players are outraged that Field 6 like the upcoming Mission Call: Black Action 7 requires PC users to use “safe start-up”. This is a relatively new technology that helps to prevent malicious software from being launched on Windows PC. Animation describes it as “safe start to ensure that PC can only load trusted software when Windows starts”.
The problem, however, is that, in some of the older systems configurations, the use of “safe start” requires users to manipulate their BIOS, which, if not properly operated, could cause considerable computer damage. Looking at the support page of EEA on “safe start” and the steps needed to start the function, one can see why it causes trouble for many players.
Even if it did work, it took a lot of time for the players to end up with a bunch of them cheating. Above all, Field 6 has not even been officially sold, but is only in the public testing phase, and the cheaters have given “perceiving hang” effect in less than 48 hours. You can perfectly understand why some players are extremely upset about the situation.
Vince Zampella, head of the field studio, was asked last week about the problem of cheating, and he stressed his determination to fight the outside world. “It’s a little weird, because you don’t want to tell me what you’re doing,” Zampela said in an interview with the YouTube channel Gaming Interviews. “It’s a big deal to hit the outside of the game. The day before, EA published a forum post detailing its efforts to combat cheating in the field 6 test version. The company explained that “safe start” was not, and was never, intended to be, a “psychological cure” for malfeasance in the root game, and that it could only be of some healing effect in the fight against an open “disease”. EA also claims to have prevented over 300,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with games in the field 6 test version and has received over 100,000 reports of potential cheaters. EEA is currently working to remove those who actually cheat.
“Typing is not a matter of time,” one EA representative explained. “This is an evolving battlefield, and the methods we used to be effective in other games do not always apply to all situations. Hopefully this will help, please continue to report — we will continue to clear the cheaters to ensure fairness in the game.”
